The Affiliate Retreat - Denver

August 4th, 2009

First off, I’d like to thank everyone that joined us in Denver for the Affiliate Retreat!

It was an information-packed day of learning that went better than I could have anticipated. The attendees were the best group of people EVER. Everyone was super attentive and REALLY followed everything George and I were teaching at this event. I feel like they really ‘got it’.

Most of the attendees were asking questions and participating (which I love because, it shows they’re serious). After the event everyone was very excited to get started and a few even submitted their Website’s to us a few days later for review. I was pleasantly surprised at how much of what we taught at this event, was actually being incorporated into their Website.

I’d like to congratulate those of you that have already started to put our plan into effect and I wish you the best of luck!

As I promised at the event, we will be there for you if you have any questions at all. George and I will serve as your personal consultants if you need help. For those of you that weren’t able to attend, you can still get help from us using the companion Website we put up for our attendees.

For anyone interested in signing up, visit www.affiliateprofitmachine.net and register. All registrations have to be approved, but if you’re already an ETR Affiliate you are eligible. We want you ALL to be successful and we plan on helping you every step of the way so make sure you sign up and ask your questions on the forums.

Feed your Twitter account with Twitter Feed

August 4th, 2009

Twitter is very hot right now as you have probably noticed.  Even the evening news channel you watch now has a Twitter page they promote. I want to make sure you understand how to take advantage of this social media giant while it continues to gobble up market share in the social media space.

A technique to use for microbloging on auto pilot is finding quality RSS feeds from creditable website’s that pertain to your niche, then using Twitter Feed to automatically post content from the RSS feed to your twitter account.

I do this with Earlytorise.com, Totalhealthbreakthroughs.com, Investorsdailyedge.com, and etraffiliates.com/blog.  So whenever a new article or blog entry is published the cover stories subject line and URL is up loaded through Twitterfeed.com to my Twitter account.

The nice thing about using Twitter Feed is that any URL’s that are posted will be shrunk   to eliminate going over Twitter’s 140 character rule. Then when some one clicks on your tweets they will re-directed to the website offers the RSS feed.  So this technique is beneficial for 3 parties.

You benefit from the followers you gain on Twitter for offering quality info, and the more tweets you post through this Twitter Feed process the more followers you will obtain.  Your followers benefit from the up to date info you are tweeting.  Lastly the website or blog offering the content through RSS benefits from the clicks you drive to their website which is free traffic for them.  A true Win Win Win situation if you will.

The Advertising Tax: Even the Terminator Sides with the Affiliate

August 4th, 2009

As you may know last year the State of New York passed a law that orders merchants to collect sales taxes on affiliate sales from consumers in New York. Previously companies that didn’t have a store or physical presence in New York were not required to collect sales tax.

The new Advertising Tax basically creates a ‘nexus’ between the merchant and consumer so that the merchant is looked at as having a physical presence in the state where the product was purchased.

The Advertising Tax law passed on July 2008 in New York, has really shaken up the Affiliate Marketing world and has become number one topic of discussion on Webmaster and Affiliate Marketing forums.

The argument for taxing internet sales is that products sold in a store will have to charge sales tax to it’s consumers but that same product purchased online will not have a sales tax affiliated with the purchase.  Is not taxing online sales fair to the local retailers?? For this reason almost every US state is now trying to implement the Advertising tax.

In California recently we came across some good news though for the California Affiliates.  Governor Schwarzenegger vetoed the Advertising tax as he remains committed to no new taxes for the most populated state in the United States.  Arnold stated “After passing the largest tax increase in California history, it makes absolutely no sense to go back to the taxpayers to solve the current shortfall”.

Governor Schwarzenegger’s comment came after Overstock.com’s announcement that it would discontinue its relationship with Affiliates in California if this piece of legislation was passed. Overstock.com and Amazon.com had to discontinued their relationships with affiliate in New York last year after the Advertising tax law was passed and California had realized that the lose of Affiliate income tax

Many other states are following suit with California discovering that the lost of income tax from affiliate sales would be a greater loss than the sales tax collected from merchants.

1,500 Affiliate and Counting:

July 6th, 2009

Impressed with our affiliate turnout would be an understatement.  Since ETR’s launch of it’s Affiliate Program Feb 16th we have had 1400 affiliates sign up to ETR’s Affiliate program. That is an average of 350 new affiliates each month.

Now that we have not only Bizz Opp products to promote, but financial and health products, new affiliates have lined up out the door to become an ETR affiliate. Many affiliates can now see how recruiting affiliates underneath you can pay huge dividends in the long run as residual income. I’d like to personally thank you for all your hard work in promoting our products and our affiliate program in itself.

Starting an Affiliate Marketing Foundation

July 6th, 2009

So I know many of our affiliates are new to affiliate marketing and today I want to offer some advice to get newbie’s in the right direction.  So if you are brand new to affiliate marketing and you don’t have extra cash lying in general where do you start off?

Well first I would make a “to do” list. The first item on the list would be to create a Web site. I don’t know how you would plan to promote affiliate links if you have no assets where you could promote them. Also if you don’t have money to put into it, PPC is off the table.
Next I would suggest that you create a new blog around the topic of this affiliate program that you wish to promote. There are services where you can start up a blog for free, but I would suggest getting your own hosting which is around 10$ a month, and a domain which is around 10$ a year. Then install Word Press, which is free, to manage the site.

Then you should start creating content around the topic of the site. Don’t worry about the look of the blog, just start churning out content. Understand that nobody is going to be visiting or buying from you initially, so you’re operating in something of a vacuum.
This is the period where you can either persevere or quit. You probably won’t make many sales in the first month, unless you’re really aggressive in marketing the site. Please understand that aggressive doesn’t equal spam, but rather hard work. Later on you should get a nice looking Word Press theme, and add in plugins to customize the site more. Focus on building a quality site and eventually the sales will come.
